Colin Kaepernick took the field in the preseason and underwhelmed. Attributing it to rust, he lost the starting job to Blaine Gabbert.

And it seems like it’s going to remain that way for now.

That’s a pretty blunt way to put it, but it’s not without reason.

Coming into the preseason, Kaepernick missed almost two weeks of practice and two exhibition games due to surgeries. When he finally did take the field, his performance in comparison Gabbert’s was dismal.

While it wasn’t, and still isn’t out of the question for Kaepernick to ever start this season, it’s not going to happen at the moment. It’s Gabbert’s job, even if some might not agree with the decision.

That would be nice.

And I mean, it’s pretty hard to forget this happened.

But hey, if this is the lesser of two evils, then play on, Blaine Gabbert. Play on.
