Perhaps no person has been given more blame for the San Francisco 49ers’ 1-5 start than general manager Trent Baalke, but a report out Wednesday says Baalke’s job won’t be in jeopardy after the season.
Jason Cole of Bleacher Report cites a team source as saying Baalke is “safe to remain with the team” after the 2016 season.
“The belief by 49ers management is Baalke is the right person to pick players for coach Chip Kelly going forward,” Cole said.
Baalke has come under fire from media and fans over the state of the 49ers roster and for the decline in talent that has taken place since the team last made the playoffs. There’s been speculation that Baalke could wind up being the fall guy after the season for the 49ers performance, but Cole’s report certainly states otherwise.
