Drink Alkaline Water

We all had a chapter in our science books called “Acids, Bases and Salts” in school. Long forgotten, is it? But do you know that these acids and bases/alkalis have an important role to play in keeping us healthy? It is quite crucial to maintain a balance of the acidic and the alkaline content in your body. If your body is too acidic, it might cause stress, fatigue, and digestive problems. This condition, also known as acidosis, can be detrimental to your weight loss plan.

How to detect acidosis

There are various symptoms that can be indicative of acidosis of which shortness of breath, chronic fatigue, muscle cramps, joint pain, sleep problems, fungal overgrowth, sensitive teeth are some. If you are finding hard to lose weight then it might mean that you have more acid in your body. Apart from this, you can also do a saliva test at home by using a pH paper. A healthy pH reading will range anywhere from 6.75 to 7.25.

In case you detect over-acidity in your body, you need to work on your diet immediately. Eat more greens like lettuce, zucchini, cabbage, and basil. Replace coffee with green tea. Reduce the intake of processed and dairy products. Drink lots of water.

Apart from changing your diet, one drink that you should definitely consume is alkaline water. Alkaline water is less acidic than normal tap water and is rich in alkalizing compounds. It helps in balancing pH levels of our body, is a great anti-oxidant, boosts immune system, and helps you fight diabetes.

Alkaline water can also help you fight cancer. According to Dr. Otto Warburg, who in 1931 won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for this discovery, “90-95 per cent of all cancers are caused by an acidic environment and that cancer simply cannot grow or survive in an alkaline environment when the pH is around 7.36.”
