After a satisfying meal, many of us just want to lay down for the rest of the night and watch a great movie or TV show.
But little do we know, this is actually one of worse things you can do after you eat.
Here are 5 things you should avoid after having a dinner or lunch:
Drinking tea right after a meal interferes with iron absorption. If you consume protein in the meal, the acid from the tea will harden the protein content, making difficult to digest.
Going to bed right after a meal usually leads to discomfort, bloating and other sleeping disorders. According to a study conducted by the University of Ioannina Medical School, individuals who stayed longer before going to bed after eating, had less risk of experiencing a stroke. So, make sure not to eat at least a few hours before going to sleep.
According to some studies, smoking right after a meal is equivalent to smoking 10 cigarettes at once. This is because the nicotine in cigarettes binds to the excess oxygen that is necessary in digestion. If you’re going to do it, at least wait a couple of hours after eating.
Showering right after having a meal can increase blood flow to reach your hands, legs and body. Thereby lowering the blood flow in your stomach. This weakens your digestive system and causes stomach pain.
It’s advisable to eat fruit before a meal, on an empty stomach. This is because fruit require different enzymes in order to digest. Do not forget that you will get the best benefits from all the nutrients, fiber and sugars when your stomach is empty.
